The Company seeks to build capacity in Indigenous-owned businesses, achieving competitiveness and developing entrepreneurs. It awards business contracts to Indigenous vendors based on technical and safety criteria and competitive pricing.

Effective consultation is the cornerstone of Husky Midstream’s relationships with Indigenous communities and is influenced by its corporate commitment and regulatory requirements.
Consultation with Indigenous communities is coordinated to provide for:

- Engagement
- Achievement of regulatory requirements
Husky Midstream practises a consistent approach to relationship building tailored to the needs and capacity of the community. The result may range from a formal agreement, such as a Memorandum of Understanding, to a simple shared understanding of the community engagement processes Husky Midstream uses.

Cenovus’s Indigenous & Community Relations team is responsible for engaging Indigenous communities on behalf of Husky Midstream. It provides internal advisory and relationship support.
